The BEST Project coordinates a number of projects related to social, emotional, and behavioral learning in Vermont. This includes leading work on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), integrating school and community mental health, and Early MTSS.

PBIS Vermont

Vermont Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (VTPBIS) is a state-wide effort designed to help school teams form a proactive, school-wide, systems approach to improving social and academic competence for all students.

Project AWARE Technical Assistance

Project AWARE stands for Advancing Wellness And Resiliency in Education. It’s a national project that focuses on connecting school communities and mental health services. In Vermont, Project AWARE is run by the Vermont Agency of Education and the Vermont Department of Mental Health.

Vermont Early MTSS

MTSS is a nationally recognized framework of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, that provide evidence-based systems and processes for educators supporting social-emotional development of children and youth. Early MTSS is the framework specifically for supporting very young children, birth through third grade.

Previous Projects

RISE-VT stands for Restorative Approaches Implementation for School Equity in Vermont. The project coordinates training and assistance on restorative approaches in schools across Vermont.
