Session 3: “What’s happening next?”

AAC to Support Transition for Complex Communicators

Description

This session is about helping young people who use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) manage transitions in their lives. Transitions, like moving from one stage of life to another, are an important part of growing up and need practice, exploration, and support from others to handle well. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to involve the person going through the transition in the process, get tips for making transition materials and activities more accessible, and practice these skills with real-life examples. Join us to explore and discuss.

Offered at the November, January, and May conference dates.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review information that could be shared with district colleagues for supporting communication about and around transitions
  • Learn practical strategies for ensuring meaningful inclusion around transition
  • Review case examples for group problem solving
