ARTICLE: “Disability Employment & Being Person-Centered in the New Normal”

Nicole LeBlanc, Advisory Group Coordinator at the National Center on Advancing Person-Centered Practices and Systems (and ThinkCollege VT alum) wrote this article on true, valid inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace (.pdf) for National Disability Employment Awareness Month 2021. In it, she highlights some of the obstacles to meaningful employment — and how workplaces can support practices to remove those obstacles.

“COVID-19 has shown us that many jobs can be done from home — not everything needs to be face-to-face 100% of the time. Having flexible work arrangements greatly benefits people with disabilities because many of us face transportation barriers and many of us are unable to tolerate long commutes or crowds due to the nature of our disabilities.”
