{"id":324,"date":"2024-08-06T20:27:23","date_gmt":"2024-08-06T20:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cdci.w3.uvm.edu\/blog\/?page_id=324"},"modified":"2025-05-31T11:40:21","modified_gmt":"2025-05-31T15:40:21","slug":"fy22-annual-report-research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cdci.w3.uvm.edu\/blog\/about\/cdci-annual-reports\/fy22-annual-report\/fy22-annual-report-research\/","title":{"rendered":"FY22 Annual Report: RESEARCH"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digging Into Diversity &amp; Equity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In FY 2022, we researched how diversity and equity affect Vermonters with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Jesse Suter<\/strong> examined racial disparities in&nbsp;COVID-19 effects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Amy Wheeler-Sutton<\/strong> reported&nbsp;to the Vermont legislature on&nbsp;how proposed laws would impact equitable and inclusive school environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Valerie Wood<\/strong>&nbsp;presented findings from a study on Vermont early childhood expulsion and suspension at the AUCD national conference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, we shared our research at regional, state, and national conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading field-info-band-title activelink\">Sharing Research Summaries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our ongoing goals is to summarize and highlight research with important impacts on disability advocacy. In FY 2022, we published five&nbsp;research summaries, in plain text, illustrated text, audio,&nbsp;and ASL-interpreted formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FY22 RESEARCH SUMMARIES<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/cess\/cdci\/pies-study\">The PIES Study<\/a>&nbsp;(CDCI Research)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/wkzHh7MYdak\">Developing concepts with children and adults who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind<\/a>&nbsp;(Recommended Research)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/Center-on-Disability-and-Community-Inclusion\/Continence\/Research-Briefs\/Winter_2022_Continence_RAP.pdf\">Autism-specific parenting self-efficacy: an examination of the role of parent-reported intervention involvement, satisfaction with intervention-related training, and caregiver burden<\/a>&nbsp;(Recommended Research)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/Center-on-Disability-and-Community-Inclusion\/Continence\/Research-Briefs\/Continence_Fall2021_RAP.pdf\">The role of parental self-efficacy in parent and child well-being:&nbsp;A systematic review of associated outcomes&nbsp;<\/a>(Recommended Research)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/Center-on-Disability-and-Community-Inclusion\/Early-Mobility\/Research%20Summaries\/Recommended-Research-Early-Mobility-Fall-2022-v4.pdf\">Exploring young children\u2019s activity and participation change following 6 months\u2019 power mobility experience<\/a>(Recommended Research)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting Grant Funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, we received four new research grants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>COVID-19 Vaccine Access<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/cess\/cdci\/project-scope-supporting-children-opioid-epidemic\">Project SCOPE-VT<\/a>: Supporting Children of the Opioid Epidemic in Vermont<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/cess\/cdci\/cares-team\">The CDCI CARES Team<\/a>: Communication, Access, Rearch and Equipment Support for the d\/Deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind community, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Health Workforce Funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Vermonter Poll<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We also added questions on disability to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.drup2.uvm.edu\/cess\/cdci\/preliminary-findings-vermonter-poll\">The Vermonter Poll<\/a>, an annual survey of attitudes across Vermont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sharing Research in Multiple Formats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, Academics Coordinator&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Valerie Wood<\/strong>&nbsp;worked on sharing CDCI research in different formats.
