If you have questions about Project SCOPE Vermont, please send an&nbsp;email to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:VCHIP.PQCVT@med.uvm.edu\">VCHIP.PQCVT@med.uvm.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Project SCOPE Vermont?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDCI received support from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwyo.edu\/wind\/\">Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND)<\/a> to improve training &amp; supports for children and families with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). The work was called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwyo.edu\/wind\/scope\/\">Project SCOPE: <strong>S<\/strong>upporting <strong>C<\/strong>hildren of the <strong>OP<\/strong>ioid <strong>E<\/strong>pidemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vermont has one of the highest rates of NAS in the U.S. And for 20 years, Vermont has worked to decrease barriers for pregnant people to receive addiction treatment. A key initiative working on this is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.uvm.edu\/vchip\/icon\">Project ICON (Improving Care for Opioid-Exposed Newborns)<\/a> at the UVM Larner College of Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We want to help health care providers learn better ways to care for infants suffering from problems related to opioid withdrawal.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The effects of NAS can extend beyond infancy. All families with NAS are eligible for Children\u2019s Integrated Services (CIS), but participation is inconsistent around the state.
