They gathered information from many sources, including VT state leaders, professionals in the field, and parents.<\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\">The researchers worked with CDD to create a recruitment flyer for parents inviting them to participate in a focus group.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The flyer stated that the purpose of the research was to learn how CDD could better support families and young children with a disability in their ECE setting.<br \/>\n\u2022 The flyer was shared through social media outlets and targeted email listservs.<br \/>\n\u2022 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all focus groups were held virtually.<br \/>\n\u2022 Parents were given the choice to complete an electronic survey or to<br \/>\nparticipate in the focus group.<br \/>\n\u2022 Parents were offered $25 for their time if they participated in a focus group.<br \/>\n\u2022 Only four parents participated in a focus group, so they were interviewed individually.<br \/>\n\u2022 Sixteen parents completed the electronic survey.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n  <div class=\"card\">\n    <div class=\"card-header\" id=\"heading3\">\n      <a class=\"collapsed d-flex align-items-center justify-content-between\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#accordion-block_7c4c399e50cce3ec48119867e55c01bc3\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"accordion-block_7c4c399e50cce3ec48119867e55c01bc3\" href=\"#\">\n        <h3>Results<\/h3>\n        <i class=\"fa-plus fa-regular fa-sharp\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>\n      <\/a>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"accordion-block_7c4c399e50cce3ec48119867e55c01bc3\" class=\"collapse\" aria-labelledby=\"heading3\">\n      <div class=\"card-body\">\n        <p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>What we learned was that many families and their children are not receiving any support or services in these settings despite their need for them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/ASCSN-PIES-Project-Final-Report.pdf\">Download a .pdf of the final paper.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --> <!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who participated in the study?<\/h4>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All 16 parents identified as female. Fifteen were moms. One was a grandmother.<br \/>\n\u2022 Different kinds of moms were represented in the sample.<br \/>\n\u2022 Nine (56.3%) were biological moms.<br \/>\n\u2022 Five (31.3%) were adoptive moms.<br \/>\n\u2022 One (6.3%) was a foster mom.<br \/>\n\u2022 Fourteen (87.5%) identified as White. One (6.3%) identified as Asian. One (6.3%) identified as Native American.
