CDCI Projects by Area of Emphasis
What are Areas of Emphasis?
The Developmentally Disabled Assistance and Bill of Rights Act is a US law providing federal funds to Councils on Developmental Disabilities, Protection and Advocacy Systems, as well as University Centers. It established eight Areas of Emphasis that University Centers such as CDCI must focus on. The law was passed in 1975.
The eight federally recognized Areas of Emphasis are:
- Employment
- Education and Early Intervention
- Child Care
- Health
- Housing
- Transportation
- Recreation
- Quality Assurance
There’s also an “Other” category for emerging issues. CDCI classifies Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion projects under this Other category.
